An Invitation from Tom Vezo to
Photograph the Galapagos Islands
You are invited to join me and Yann Nicholas on an incredible photographic journey to the Galapagos Islands from July 23 through August 2, 2008. We are limited to 14 participants and have a few spaces left so please sign up soon. We will be visiting about 8 unusual islands each having different species of wildlife that you can walk right up to and photograph (read the attachment above for the itinerary). There is no better place for you to learn my photographic techniques in the field and then return to the boat for critiques. Yann will also give Photoshop instruction and coach you on how to enhance your ability to create much better images. Yann was the director of technology and new media for Columbia University for 10 years and he is an expert in Photoshop. He is now working as a consultant with Franz Lanting on various projects. I guarantee you will have an exhilarating experience in nature and learning.
My experience in the Galapagos was beyond my expectations and was one of the two journeys I took years ago that completely changed my life. The Galapagos Islands are uninhabited and the wildlife has never been hunted; therefore, they have no fear of humans. The intimacy I felt with these animals was overwhelming since they allowed me to get close to them. It was beyond what I was used to anywhere else in the field. The photography is amazing.
My trips to the Galapagos and Antarctica made me realize what I had been missing out on after owning a business for twenty years. I had been selling photos while I managed my business, but photography was typically a hobby at that time. I was encouraged by many photo editors through the years to become a full time professional because they liked my work and thought I had tremendous potential. After taking those two trips I was inspired by the thought that life is too short and I really wanted to be out photographing wildlife and nature. I gave myself two years to market my photos while still managing my business and then went into photography full time and never looked back.
The inspiration and effect the Galapagos Islands had on my life was a gift. It motivated me to change my life style and do what I love most and I’m looking forward to visiting there again. The boat we will be sailing on is called the Beluga. It has been chartered by Distinctive Journeys many times for photographic groups. The staff and guides understand the special needs of photographers, and they make every effort to provide a wonderful experience. This is also a perfect opportunity for non photographic companions to join. They can choose to participate with our group, or enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Galapagos Islands at their own pace, or with one of the guides.
Come join us on this wonderful photographic journey!
